Paramount on the Bay - this project has been plagued since day one with problems from a deadly crane accident destroying the historic home used in the movie “There’s Something About Mary” to the original developer losing the property to default.  Currently the new building’s owner is pouring $14mil into renewing the unused common areas, entries, and port cochere driveway.  As of today the building is still not quite ready to begin sales even though the property has essentially been completed for two years - it’s a bit shocking and dissappointing to be honest.

The upside to the delays is that Paramount will be the only brand new, full lux building coming online in 2012 in the Downtown Miami area.  Paramount’s units all feature private elevators & foyers, oversized balconies (some as large as 3,000sq/ft!), and high-end appliances - combined with a flow-thru East-to-West design there isn’t a condo at Paramount that lacks for view from the new Marlins Dome to Biscayne Bay.

Here is a quick tour of a high floor unit at Quantum on the Bay, this is an 02 line which is the NE corner of the South tower.  This is one of my favorite two bedroom layouts in the building with great water views of Biscayne Bay, South Beach and the new Paramount Bay Condo.

This is just terrible, the second major crane accident in Miami in two years occurred yesterday at Paramount Bay when a 7 ton segment of crane being hoisted fell through the “There’s Something About Mary” house. What will it take for licensing or regulation to happen?

According to the developer, who was on the phone with a Realtor associate of mine shortly thereafter, construction is slated to resume on Monday, we’ll see - after the Marina Blue tragedy the project was at a near halt for over 6 months.
